keep it up, Lonnie!!
The dude has been solid the last three games. I think he's been sandbagging it so that he wouldn't get traded, and now he's going to play lights out the rest of the year so that the Spurs keep him and give him some cash.
I bet some mf's would say "kEeP iT uP sO hIs TrADe VaLuE gOeS uP"
NO. Keep it up so he can be a valuable player for us. Good shit Lonnie!! I hope you stay consistent
Not the prettiest game but a W is a W
Cardiac Spurs have straight up given me some jitters, yeesh.
But hey, we still snagged the W so all's well. I think I need some calming tea though.
We just wanted to improve our close game record
Fun up and down game. Spurs had 6 players with 15+ points. Vassell and Walker have stepped up big since the departure of Derrick White.
Nice to see the new faces in uniform tonight (Richardson, Sato, and Langford). Richardson played 14 minutes and had a 3 pointer go down.
Richardson played 14 minutes and had a 3 pointer go down.
Team high +14, even if single game plus minus is usually just noise.
close game but spurs got the dub.
3 point shooting has been awful the past two games but hopefully they find their form post all star break.
lonnie looks good when he focuses on driving over shooting
Keldon has 20+ ppg. potential and Lonnie stock is trending upwards; very good.
Spurs made this way too close for comfort. Spurs need to learn how to close out games better. That's what rebuilding is for. To teach, learn and grow.
Josh Richardson displayed some good stuff in his limited playing time. Played great man defense and showed some outside shooting.
I ask myself about the Lonnie Walker conundrum. The first half, Lonnie was doing very well offensively. And then, the lack of consistency showed it's ugly head again. Is Lonnie worth re-signing and will he fix his flaws and fulfill his potential? For me, the answer is no.
Honestly watchiing the game, the Spurs were pretty lackadaisical. Not really displaying 100% effort on the glass and contesting threes. Not doing the little things. But got the W at the end.
Week off for the Spurs, Get ready for Dejounte to play in the All-Star Game!
LW4 is your project 4 year 35 MM role-player that teams put in the game to change pace and occasionally cook up opposing team’s poor defensive players
that would be a massive overpay lol dont scare me like that
If Collins can get a 3 year $24mil a year based on the hope that he can stay healthy, I don’t see why we can’t give the same type of opportunity to Lonnie based on the hope that he develops further.
4/35 is more than 3/24
Lonnie has shown nothing to warrant that kind of money while Collins looked good when healthy
only the 1st year and a fraction of the 2nd are guaranteed for Collins
Lonnie has hardly improved at all in the 4 years here, hoping he will magically start now is just silly
The longer the contract the bigger the salary. That’s usually how NBA contracts work.
Lonnie absolutely looks like he deserves a contract based on efficiency… when he’s good. The flashes of improvement pop up often, and he’s still raw and young. He can definitely improve.
His contract can be backloaded; and at his worst, he could be traded as an expiring contract in 2026. If he leaves now, we get almost nothing out of him.
Edit: you must not have seen how totally raw he was out of college. He showed physical attributes, but not much else. He’s always been considered a long term project.
yeah the longer the contract, the more money, but you go from 8/yr for Collins To 9/yr for Lonnie. that's why he said it's more money. there are a lot of guys in the league you can throw that salary at and hope they'll earn it. I wouldn't go over 7 million per year for him right now because he's an actively negative player.
He's a restricted free agent.. Spurs will let him test the market and eventually let him walk like SloMo or Jonathan Simmons.. what does he give the team to warrant 4/35? Vassell is arguably already better than him and we have 3 picks that could easily take his role
yeah but there is no reason to give Lonnie more years or more money per year. none.
also, what efficiency? he is shooting 39/29/81, even worse than Dejounte "cant shoot 3s" Murray from 3 and he still jacks them up like he is steph curry. for a guy who gives you absolutely nothing other than scoring he is terribly inefficient.
getting nothing for him might be better than wasting cap space and playing time on a bad player.
i'm from the future
pop getting the record at home against the lakers in early march
do they have reddit in the future?
aliens are gonna knock reddit offline for a hot minute really soon
Glad to see JRich still have defensive clamps. Glad Pop let him play in the 4th when OKC was threatening a comeback when Spurs played a crappy 3rd quarter
Lonnie Walker IV vs Lindy Waters III, what a battle
